Pairing Fragrance and Libations For an Unforgettable Happy Hour
Welcome to Cocktails by Candlelight! With the start of a new year, I have resolved to host a monthly happy hour, Cocktails by Candlelight, right here on Bon Bougie. Each month, I will share a candle and cocktail pairing to enjoy together. This month, I am featuring Votivo candles, Antica Farmacista, and a delicious winter white sangria.
I found this beautiful pomegranate and rosemary white sangria on Pinterest via the blog Bakeaholic Mama and instantly had a diffuser and small candle in mind to enjoy with it. Pomegranate is a beautiful, seasonal fruit that will add a festive burst of color and flavor to a delicate white wine like Pinot Grigio. Rosemary adds the depth of peppery woods so this chilled cocktail warms from within. Gather your ingredients and invite your friends for a winter mingling of fragrance and spirits.
- 1 bottle of dry white wine
- 3/4 cup pomegranate arils
- 4 sprigs of fresh rosemary
- 1/4 cup simple syrup
- the juice of 1 lemon
- the juice of 1 orange
- 1/3 cup Triple Sec
- In a large pitcher add everything together.
- Refrigerate for 24 hours.
- Serve over ice.
While the sangria is mixing together in the refrigerator, find a central spot to display this pretty diffuser. This small bottle of Antica Farmacista Pomegranate Currant Blood Orange will give your space a base layer of refreshing citrus notes from Italian blood orange and grapefruit, grounded by the depth of black currant and red pomegranate.
About an hour before guests arrive, light the Votivo Candles Rosemary Garden scent to let this spicy herbal fragrance blend with the fruity foundation of the Antica Farmacista diffuser. Votivo captured the scent that remains on your fingertips after twisting a fresh sprig of rosemary from the garden. Your guests will enjoy their delicious sangria even more when their senses are heightened by the herbal and fruity accords filling the room.
