It’s funny how even when it’s still incredibly hot and steamy outside, there’s a flip that occurs mid-August. You’ve experience it, I’m sure. Your brain says “I’m done!” with summer and your body begins to crave the cozy comforts of fall. Every year, without fail, fragrance buying trends make a shift and fall fragrances fill shopping baskets and (and online shopping carts) long before summer winds down.
So what’s popular this year for fall? We’re seeing many brands developing sophisticated orange-based fragrances, including this latest release (Extreme Orange) from Lampe Berger. Peppery notes are being blended with gourmand fragrances. Fig based fragrances have been hot this summer and we expect that buying trend to continue into the cooler weather months.
Of course you know fall is near when this orange box starts flying off the shelves. NEST Pumpkin Chai is pumpkin at its best – a feel-good fragrance with a touch of exotic chai spices to make it far less than ordinary. Laura Slatkin, founder of NEST Fragrances, takes her passion for gourmet cooking to make a gourmand fragrance like nobody’s business.
A returning Illume Favorite, Pumpkin Peppercorn is now offered in several new sizes. From farm to table, this decadent pumpkin is spiced with sweet peppercorn, roasted cinnamon bark and a twist of tangy citrus peel. This complex pumpkin fragrance includes base notes of earthen oak, molten amber, and black vanilla bean garnished with a touch of smoked chestnut.
NEW from Votivo this season is Spiced Chai. We’ve been burning this fragrance to create our review and find it has a nice balance of pumpkin and spice. We really notice trails of cinnamon notes, pumpkin and rich vanilla. There’s also a nice balance of amber and sandalwood which play well with the sweeter notes in this candle.
Of course Linnea’s Lights Pumpkin is a pumpkin-lover’s dream. There is a hint of spice, but the essence of this fragrance is pure pumpkin. Candles Off Main customer Chad says, “this is the perfect fragrance for fall. It sends out vibes of warmth and coziness… the perfect balance between spice and pumpkin.”
The Orange Vanilla candle by Trapp Fragrances is a cult classic. The massive following for this fragrance doesn’t die down the rest of the year, but fall is a great time for this yummy scent. It masters the delicate balance of bright, juicy orange and warm, relaxing vanilla. If you’ve never tried it, get in on it.
The Trapp Candles Holiday Collection is back! Do you give holiday scented candles as gifts or scoop them up for yourself to enjoy? Whoever you are buying for, Trapp Holiday Candles are sure to please with their selection of seven seasonal favorites. While supplies last, Candles Off Main is offering a free seasonal Trapp candle with the purchase of four seasonal Trapp Candles.
We certainly recommend trying Fireside Pumpkin to kick off your fall season of scents. This fragrances blends notes of New England pumpkin, smoky pumpkin spices and glowing embers to create a warm and cozy atmosphere in your home. We like Trapp Fireside Pumpkin as an alternative to chai/latte inspired pumpkin fragrances — as it is not the spicy latte of pumpkin candles. While those are fabulous, sometimes pumpkin lovers want pure pumpkin comfort.
As you start to find yourself needing a sweater and scarf, grab your laptop or tablet and browse our full collection of fall fragrances. We’ll be adding more new fragrances soon, including some new offerings from Thymes and NEST.
